59 PM CentralJob Summary Assist the University Chief of Police in Security & Police Operations and adhere to the guidelines established by the governing bodies Job Duties & Responsibilities Assist the Chief in the development, administration, coordination and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and activities.
Perform a variety of duties including organizing, planning, and coordinating programs to prevent crime as well as provide administrative support.
Sustain and advance the department's mission in support of the university's mission through the use of community policing and other resources and other best practices in campus law enforcement.
Direct the application of advanced and innovative concepts and best practices in campus law enforcement to achieve objectives and improve performance.
Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the department and work units.
Review and direct the department's fiscal, equipment and human resources activities and services; develop reviews and manage staff & employee recruitment, development and training.
Prepare correspondence, reports and/or other materials; research content items for correctness of presentation and applicability.
Manage the department's internal affairs function.
Coordinate law enforcement activities with other law enforcement agencies and first responders.
Control and command law enforcement operations of major investigations, emergency management situations and large university special events.
Provide staff assistance to assigned supervisory staff; provide various program and activity reports; make recommendations for new programs and services.
Serve as alternate property and evidence custodian.
Evaluate performance of assigned staff, conduct disciplinary actions.
Coordinate work schedules including time-off.
Monitor budget and assist in the preparation of the department budget.
Attend various meetings and seminars as required.
Assist in criminal investigations when required.
Counsel personnel as needed.
Assume full responsibility for the Police Department in the absence of the Chief.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement or related field from an accredited university Five (5) years policing experience Effective written/oral communication Must be knowledgeable of university, state and federal compliance policies and regulations Good public relations demeanor reflected in service to the university community Must be committed to equal opportunity, and demonstrate ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relations with internal and external constituents and community partners Handle confidential matters professionally and exude the appropriate level discretion Sound judgment and maturity Preferred:
Master's Degree in Law Enforcement or related field Seven (7) years of progressive policing experience Supplemental Information Applications without the following will not be considered complete.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
